Interior of the original Hayes Town Chapel in Church Road
I used to go to this church for many years when I was a kid, Keith Gomes was the Minister,he was very popular with everyone, as I lived in the next street from him, he would give me a lift to church on the cross bar of his bike ! he played football with the kids, it was him who was the leading light in fund raising to build the new church across the road. Also from that time I remember Phillys and Jack Butcher, Mrs.Brown who used to play the organ, Mr Bates who gave out the Bibles on arrival. |
