Ship Row Mission Dawley in the 1920's, among those shown are;-Eliza Castle-nee Peggrem/Ethel Peggrem-nee Sceeny/Amy Peggrem-nee Gardener/Elizabeth Ann Peggrem-nee Stocker/Elizabeth Mary Peggrem/Doris Violet Peggrem/and Polly Hammond;-These ladies ran whist drives etc,. to raise money for the building of St. Jerome's Church.
The Mission Hall was built at Dawley in 1910 and dedicated by the Bishop of Kensington on Oct. 29th of that year. It stood in Dawley Road immediately south of Bolingbroke Cottages. It was transferred in the early 1930's to the site planned for St. Jerome's Church in Judge Heath Lane, where after the new Church was completed, it served as the Church Hall. Severely damaged in an air raid in August 1940 it was finally destroyed by fire in January 1946.
