Fay and Hilary Woods were Head Girls at Mellow Lane. This advert appeared in women's magazines at the time.

Wow... they really are twins! What was 'The Toni'? Any link with Toni & Guy?

The 'Toni' was a perm (permanent wave'). Fay and Hilary were called 'Fhilary' because they were so identical and were made joint Head Girls at Mellow Lane school. That seemed to be a great thing to do so that they were still treated alike. The picture was memorable and I vaguely remember it on the hoarding at the end of Hewens Road for a while. I don't know if there was any link with Toni and Guy, the hairdressers, though.
