This is how Mellow Lane School looked when I went there a few years after this picture. The first two windows to the right of the entrance were where we had our music lessons and choir practice. The room was actually the back of the stage and divided from the Main Hall by a partition which was mostly kept closed. Past the windows of the Main Hall, probably 6 or 8, there was Miss Morgan's office and then cloakrooms. Miss Morgan was headmistress at the time. Mr Watson was headmaster and his office was to the left of the main entrance.
The car-park was later usually full with staff cars, including Brian Trant's Morris 1000 Traveller, and a scooter or two belonging to Sixth Formers. I have seen, on more recent photographs, that the building looks much-extended now, but this picture is how I always think of Mellow Lane School.
