Where were the Manor House players based? Anything to do with the Manor House in Church Road?

Mellow Lane pupils belonged to four different 'Houses'. They were named Park House, Manor House, Dower House and Round House. Points would be gained for each House according to achievements from events like this Drama project. Each House had a colour. I was in Park House which was Green, Manor House was Blue. The other two were Red and Yellow but I can't remember which colour went with which one. Maybe someone else will know to jog my memory? Some of us girls wore our House colour girdles around our dark skirts.

Ottilia, (we called her Betty), had an older brother who has been an occasional writer or director of the soap Coronation Street.

Round House was Yellow, Dower House was Red.
When I was there from '62 - 68
The House masters were :-
Park House - Mr. Ross (T.D.)
Manor House - Mr. Friend (Maths)
Dower House - Mr. Perrin (Geography)
Round House - Mr. Tripp (R.I.) - I was in Round House.

Thanks for the reminder of the House colours, Festive50, and which Housename they belonged with. I think that having the Houses was a good idea because there was the incentive to compete in a good way and those plays, especially, kept a lot of interest and enthusiasm going for quite some time. I'm not sure whether it was an actual competition but I seem to remember that Housepoints were totalled up at the end of term or year.
I remember the teachers but for my form Mr Friend taught Geography and Mr Perrin taught R.I. He was also my form teacher for at least 2 years. Mr Tripp was supposed to be taking us for RI. one day but ended up playing the piano in his classroom and leading a sing-song. Something never to be forgotten :-)

I was at Mellow Lane from 1955-1960, and I remember all those teachers. As Vice-Captain of Dower House, I knew Mr Perrin well, and later when I taught in Ickenham I knew him as President and then Secretary of the local NUT. in 1966 he went on to become a NUT official. Incidentally I was in the Dower House play, and there is a photo of it elsewhere among the ML photos.
