The reporter made a mistake with the name George Bray. It should have been Grace Bray.

The roar of laughter when Brian Lugard appeared on stage as a policeman was all good-natured. He was very popular and a character who was friendly and funny, and probably the pupil I remember best for these attributes.

Oh! I wonder if Grace is related to Ernie Bray who has contributed a lot to the Hayes and Grange Park sites.

Just checked... I thought there was a reference to a "Grace" in one of his articles and I've found it.... There's even a photo of Grace Bray as a baby. I should think there's a high chance it could be the same one. Click to visit the article.

Yes, it is the same Grace Bray. We made friends when I was new to Charville School after moving from Cranford Park. We remained good friends whilst at Mellow Lane School and the last time I saw her was when she visited after Carolyn was born. I was sorry we lost contact. I met her parents when I called at her house sometimes. Thankyou for the link to the article which is very interesting and also to see a picture of Grace when she was a baby.

Just incredible! I emailed Ernie and he said he was pretty sure that would be his sister. I've asked if I can reproduce his complete reply.
