Great picture, I worked for B.O.A.C from 1963 until it eventually became British Airways and then stayed with BA until 1997.

BondyBoy... you must have seen some rapid changes, especially in the 60s. I had a BEA/BOAC Yahoogroup for while for ex staff. Anyone know what type of plane that is?

As it's SAS I'm going to take a guess at a swedish make. Did Saab make civilian aircraft?

The aircraft is a Douglas DC6.
Yes, there were incredible changes to LHR from 1963 to 1997 when I retired and the changes are still going on of course, the building never stops.
Where T4 and the Cargo Area are on the Southside it was still farmland and had tractors ploughing the fields whilst aircraft took off nearby on the Southern runway.
