This photo was taken on 1st April 1967. I've referred to it on the Forum, but then realised it disappeared after I first uploaded it when Middlesex.com went down. So here it is again. There is now a roundabout on that spot.

Hi David
Where is / was Cedar Gardens ? I lived in Hayes for many years but can't recall these gardens.
They certainly look nice. Regards Chris

I don't remember these gardens, either, but maybe I got off the bus into Uxbridge before it went past them. (if they are where the grassed roundabout is now. I don't think I could have been a Planning-Officer deciding to replace such a lovely scene with a road. :-(

The roundabout that has replaced these gardens is at the end of Harefield Road. It's the first one you come to as you enter Uxbridge from the Denham direction. In the early Sixties you would not have seen them from any bus. The gardens were in front of the old Day Centre for the elderly, and the path led down to a footbridge across the Fray's River into Fassnidge Park.(The bridge has gone too)
