Thank you for posting pictures and names of the teachers at Barnhill school. In the photo of teachers dated 1955, with Mr. Palmer sitting front row centre, has anyone made a sequential list of the names of teachers in each row? I was there from 1951-55 and remember many of the teachers I had, but could not recognize some from the photo.
It looks like (from L to R in the back row): Mr. Maynard, Mr. Schafer (PT), Mr. Whelan (science), but I cannot make out the rest, apart from Mr. Gidney (tech. drawing) as the last male on the R in the second row. Then is Mr. King directly behind Mr. Palmer, with Mr. Lewis to his left and Mr. Jones (woodwork) to his left in the 2nd row. However I could not name the lady teachers from the photo. Has anyone identified each of the teachers in the photo. If so I would be interested to find out.
I was looking for Mr. Nicholls (music), Mr. Benjamin (metal work), Miss Pond (French) and Miss Forrest (English?). We also had another Gym teacher (Mr. Strangeways) who does not appear to be listed. Perhaps he left before the photo was taken.
Does anyone else recall these teachers and can identify them, if they are in this photo?
