From my limited experience of care homes there seems to be little in the way of quality care, it's just as one assistant told me 'granny farming' - the generation of profit at minimum cost. No human compassion, no dignity for the elderly with dementia or other issues, just money-grabbing .... disgusting, and the CQC is about as useful as a chocolate teapot - I appreciate its funding is probably limited but even so it could do a lot better.

I too only have very limited experience of 'care homes'. Although I do have very unpleasant experiences dealing with the NHS over the medical care of the elderly.

I have had to sit before a board of medics, including two doctors, a consultant, two senior nurses, two Social Services administrators, and a secretary taking notes; to discuss the treatment and care of a close relative. Collusion and dishonesty don't come close to describing what I had to face. I did take two witnesses with me to take notes. The overwhelming sense I and my witnesses experienced was, the total lack of humanity and compassion from the whole board of officials.

Our experiences, even limited experience, should cause us to distrust the current verbosity pouring from the political class about the NHS and the care system. Something is very wrong at the core of politics and the administrative systems; something severely inhumane, that increasingly looks like evil at work.

That's how I see it as well.
