Looks like Uber lost its license to operate in London.

Not surprised considering the way they run roughshod over their employees and flout the rules.

Never used it. Was going to a couple of months ago but found out that you can't book days in advance outside London.

I arrived at T5 with my wife, son and his girlfriend. Our pre-booked taxi failed to turn up so my son suggested Uber. Never again. This guy turned up, could hardly speak English, said he lived in Hackney. He drove down the M25 and onto the M3 with no lights - this was night-time!
Got closer to my house and I said to him that our road was the next on the right. Without warning he just turned right in front of cars coming towards us - my life flashed in front of me, how we didn't get killed is a miracle. As I say, never again!

SatNav's have meant that they can come in from wherever and drive people around.

I thought cab drivers had to have some form of interview these days.

Back in 1971 to 1976 I did some part time MiniCab work. I worked for Byron cars who were based in Craven Close near the Grapes. In those days we could all be trusted, we knew the area and driving around was a lot easier than now.

RK, That sounds like an horrendous experience. Sadly, these days your report could be construed by some as a 'hate crime' against foreign Uber drivers.

Pleased to see that you have returned safely; and back on here again.

Did you have a good holiday?

Wow, that is horrendous. Does Uber come with a feedback or rating facility?

Seems they are being banned in other UK cities.

They paid hackers £75k not to reveal the hack of employees and customers unencrypted details.

This is one shady outfit.

I had a very bad experience as well I got into a Uber taxi at Lords cricket ground with my 2 grand sons we wanted to get to Hendon where we had parked our car to get home to Northampton the driver spoke very little english his driving was the most dangerous I have ever seen, after about 5 minutes of this madness I told him to pull over and we all got out I was quite happy to forgo the fare I had paid. It took us a lot longer to get to Hendon by public transport but at least we arrived safe

That's the problem with SatNav's. They mean any old idiot can be a taxi driver with no knowledge and dubious driving skills.
