My wife wants to buy a 13" laptop/notebook (not an Apple) - any comments/views as to any particular products out there? She mainly uses it for email, photo's, music, and bits of googling. I notice that Google Chrome is sometimes mentioned - what is it? Is it restrictive?

Google Chrome is a fast search engine, that I prefer to use over others.

I notice that the storage is limited on Chromebooks - will it load Microsoft Office, and if it can will it take up too much storage space?

Looking at a Toshiba CB30-B-104 which seems to fit the bill for her.

She bought the Toshiba CB30-B-104 and is delighted with it. I see it got a recommendation as a 'best buy' in last weeks Sunday Times.
