I'm considering changing my Honeywell wi-fi thermostat & programmer that deals with my hot water & heating for a Nest or Hive. I've looked at both in the shop but which one is the best, ie easier to use?
Anyone got any thoughts on the subject?

I've not looked at either because my Johnson & Starley unit isn't compatible with either.

However, put any annual subscription into the equation.

I've decided to buy a Nest, hope it's the right decision!

I'm very pleased with the Nest, I can sit in a coffee shop in the town centre and adjust the temperature from my phone although it automatically learns your coming & going habits and adjusts the hearing accordingly. A smart piece of kit and, (so far), very easy to use.

Why, would you want to adjust the temperature in the Coffee shop?

Being as my warm air system isn't Smartphone compatible with any App I just have 2 Netgear ArloQ security cameras to see if anyone enters when my phone isn't on the premises.

Works via geolocation and sends an alert if it's triggered.

Reasons I might perhaps want to remotely change my home heating temperature from a coffee shop Robongar:

1) I want to return home to a warm house (say coming back from holiday)
2) my wife has turned the heating up whilst at home and I can turn it down remotely (only joking!)
