Hi all

This is actually a request rather than a memory. Would anyone be able to help me track down some information... Trying to find the name of a butchers shop on the Uxbridge Road in about 1967/1968. It was in Uxbridge itself, and apparently run by a short man with dark hair, of Maltese decent! A very odd question I know but I'm determined to track down the name of this butchers shop! If anyone can help I would be really grateful! I imagine there were a couple of butchers shops around then but if anyone has any info on names of the shops it would be amazing! Thanks!

Fascinating request. Let's hope that rings a bell with someone.

Just a shot in the dark, but I can remember a shop called Kingstons along the Uxbridge Road, but not sure if it was the butchers shop. Can anyone else help to jog my memory?

There was a Kingstons butchers in Hayes Town until fairly recent times. I think it's a halal butchers now.

That's what I must have been thinking of Jon. Looking at Artfe's photo above, is that the shop that used to be Rumbelows?

Artfte's photo is in Hayes End... right up nearly as far as the Blue Dragon, on the other side near Star Road. Hillingdon Heath I think the area is called actually.

It's a great little shop. It was a butcher's but is more a sort of farm shop/deli these days.

Recall Dewhust the Butchers had shops scattered around the local area, might have taken over some of the Kingston Shops, which as other said had shop in Hayes Town, plus others along Kingshill Shops & the Uxbridge Road part near Woolworths.

My brother worked as a Saturday Boy for the Hayes Hayes Town Kingston, think the manger was a Mr Bristow who later had own shop in Hayes Town near Lakes & the Salvation Army.

Footnote, brother used to come home with loads of meat on a Saturday, while I was a bread boy for Westons & came home with cakes & bread, way before that Elf Safety came along, shame good times.

Bristow... that rings a bell.

Lakes was brilliant, especially the one in East Ave, right opposite my nan's house. I've never known a sweet shop smell so much like a sweet shop. Wonderful.

Lakes of Coldharbour Lane, know this a long shot & going back a wee bit.
Was Lakes before or after called something like Marchents could be Marchant all along that area.
I recall these people had a Mobile Van, really state of the art for the time, the van would come around the area of once a week, does anyone recall this.
