Those photos are truly amazing, and some of the newspaper quotes likewise. I was amazed at the story of the young man from St. C's at the underground station.

The photos are fantastic and so clear considering how long ago they must have been taken. What is even more amazing is that the photos have been sent by Susanne who is the daughter of Stuart Westgate who was the Dental Surgeon I was receptionist and nurse for. The practice was in Yeading Lane and quite near to St Christopher's School which was opposite The Grapes along the Uxbridge Road.
Susanne was just a little girl learning to walk when I saw her last in the front garden of the house where I worked. She was with her Grandparents who are in the centre of the front row of the school photo.
I now have some pictures from Susanne of the house and surgery which bring back so many memories of working there when I first left school.
It was lovely to receive them and to be in touch after all this time.
Many thanks for the pleasant surprises we are treated to from time to time on the Middx. Photos Galleries.

I agree with Davrob that the article about the bravery of a St Christopher's School pupil is remarkable, too.

With Thanks
Marian

That is all SO FANTASTIC!!!

There's a dental surgery where you describe now... is it the same one I wonder?

Yes, all quite unbelievable really, but a lovely, lovely surprise.

The house I worked in was sold and a new surgery was built at the back where the garage had been. That was in Carlyon Road and so it could be the same one if that is the location you mean?

No, the one I mean is only the left shortly after you enter Yeading Lane from Ux Rd.

No, it wasn't there, Jon.

This is it.

My thanks to Susanne who sent me the photo and is happy for me to share it for the memories.

What a beautiful house!!

How things change. The dental practice I was referring to, close to The Grapes, does not have quite the same elegant ambience about it. (It's also the one that REFUSED to treat me once when I was in terrible agony.)

Yes, the house was very attractive and individual with it's mock Tudor design. Most of the room downstairs with the bay-window was the main surgery. There were some French Doors which can just about be seen towards the back, and that was the office area. My desk was next to the French Doors so I had a view of the side garden when I was working on the clerical work and enjoying a chance to sit down. Much of the time I was on my feet in the main surgery area being the dental nurse as well as receptionist.
The upstairs front room was the waiting-room and the other larger room had been made into a nice room for me to spend my lunch-times. I even had my own little cooker in there for hot food in the colder weather which shows how thoughtful Stuart was. :)
