I remember this pub with fond memories from the 40s 50s 60s when it was run by the Nethercots when I was quite young I used to go into the off licence and buy 1p arrowroot biscuits, have been to a few boxing tournaments held in the back yard, as far as I know there son Terry still lives in Hayes have seen him a few times as a judge at Crufts, he is a very well known judge in the show dog world

That's interesting, Mike. You never know what unusual pieces of information are going to crop up in Memories.:-) I never thought Crufts would be mentioned and that someone from Hayes was a judge in the show dog world. I remember the Pear Tree well because my cousins lived near there in Goulds Green. Also, my schoolteacher at Charville School lived just past the Pear Tree pub. It's amazing how the pub names stick in our memories and seem to landmark certain areas.

Talking of pubs I read that The Angel is going to become a mosque.

Malcolm Jackman went to Mellow Lane not far away from The Angel, where he lived. It is a shame for another well-remembered place to be going.
