Post subject:  Where did Peter Jee and family go?

Does anyone know of the where abouts of Peter Jee.? His father was the owner of "Percy's Cafe" which was located at the end of 5 shops on the corner of Shakespeare Avenue and the Uxbridge Rd. (right opposite Central Avenue). He had three brothers , Ken, Bernard one other whose name escapes me at present. They always had their huge Alsation dog by the name of Boris with them. The family were Roman Catholic and attended the church at the junction of Central Avenue and Botwell Lane. At that time the trams rattled though the area , cycle tracks were unheard of. (I gather they are unheard of now, in Hayes at least, where the "rich people" with cars park their cars I am told.) The Uxbridge Road was undivided and pure satisfaction ruled when the trolleybus was introduced with pneumatic tyres fitted.
Policemen efficiently covered their beat by walking or riding a bicycle. Riding a cycle without a light was a punishable offence, evn a few minutes after sunset.
Now and again they would slip into a shop and stand at the front and glance up and down the Street , unseen but observing. No Macdonalds or Donut shops to visit to pass the time away.
They missed very little though. ;)

Jones the paper shop corner of Shakespeare was one such shop, the local bobby was known as streaky, with his cape over the handle bars he pushed his bike, and was known to give a clip around the ear to many a presumed yob, and say that's for nothing, now try something! there was a large emergency water tank opposite the two show houses for Gough the builder diagonal across the green, he would patrol around there looking for potential transgressors. Hanging about on street corners was a big no no for him. Percy's cafe I remember that well although never went inside as only lived down Shakespeare ave, when a loaf of bread from Brown and Edwards the bakers was fourpence farthing a loaf. around 2p in todays money. ;)
