Does anyone know where John moved to. I Know he was looking at properties in Devon when his father who was a postman retired.

This would have been early 1970's John would be in his mid 70's now.
I have found references to John on this site and would love to get in touch with him.
As a youth I worked with him on his milk round. Any help would be appreciated

JOHN WORKED FOR THE CO-OP out of the Hillingdon depot on the uxbridge road at hillingdon heath his round covered Church Road, lanock rd, Moray ave , Compton road, Botwell Lane , Barra Hall Rd, Botwell Common Rd , Chestnut Close, Drennon Sq, Central Ave ,Hemming lane amongst others. All in Hayes. A big round.

John was well known as he started his round at the junction of Hemming Lane /Church Road at around 8.45 each day ...not an early riser was John. Friday /Sat would finish around 5.30pm sometimes later.

Just as well, you've edited your post, because our John of Express Dairies was a bit like Pat Mustard in Father Ted. When my younger brother worked for him, John would have his "lunch" at the women over the road to us, whilst her husband was at work.

Phil, sure you're not confusing him with Ernie?

I helped John the Express milkman in Chaucer Ave from about the age of 7!! I've got a picture of me delivering milk to our house wearing John's Express overalls and cap. You can see it on the front page of my Milko Yahoogroup.

He reminded me a bit of Tommy Steele.

I remember a much older boy that helped him too when I first started...maybe that was your bro?

When we moved to Church Road in 72 I carried on helping an Express milko called Peter Poole.
