I must admit I laugh at the boy racers too. I also laugh at the noisy exhausts on their cars - go faster noise I call it.

Arthritis got me off my bike - I enjoy driving though and am always going somewhere or other - at least in a car you don't have to worry about the rain, you just switch the wipers on

These boy racers have no idea. When I did my advanced driving course/test, one of the statements made by the instructor was that the name of the game was to arrive at your destination as refreshed as when you set off.

With these boy racers and the way they need to be constantly over alert they must arrive knackered. What's the point for a few minutes ?

One undertook me on Mahjacks roundabout the other day, zoomed into the lane on my right across my path and roared off up the road. When I got to my turn off by the Coachmans in Cowley he was the car in front of mine.

I just can't see the point - Maybe I'm just getting old

Just to bring this back to topic this summer has been fantastic for cycling this year, and managed to cycle in Ireland, Wales, Devon and in around West Drayton.

Anyone else been out and about

I've been out on the bike a couple of times this summer, nothing like as much as I'd hoped... my total's a bit less than yours. I think I might have achieved ten miles, nearly. (Actually, it might have been about 5 miles, nearly). And I live bang splat next to a forest and a canal path that are both MAJOR attractions for serious cyclists. They pull up in cars and vans and unload their bikes, and all I have to do is get mine out of the garage.
