All OS's do initially.

My SSD machine boots up in no time anyway, just seconds.

The more I hear about Win10 the less I like it at the moment.

Apparently this latest major update, threshold 2, completely uninstalls and reinstalls Win10 so any settings you had are now lost and you need to start again. This ploy has been mooted as a ploy to reset all the users who are deliberately blocking data uploads.

That threshold 2 also deleted quite a few programs like HWMonitor, Speccy, CPU-Z and Spybot amongst other less known programs.

"I'm not letting Win10 in until I work out what the hell is going on" ;)

I've also learnt that Win10 threshold 2 also uninstalls Norton Security, as did the original install.

The info I have is that Microsoft published the Win10 requirements info to selected interested third parties. A sort of 'this is what you need to do'. I have it on good authority (an employee) that Symantec read this document and refused to sign up.

All I can gather is that it is required for these applicable third party programs to not block or impede Microsoft's Win10 data collection. Of course Norton Security does. One of the tools in its arsenal is a feature that blocks unauthorised user data uploads. I had one blocked recently under the 'cloud9 trojan' where IOBit's Driver Booster v3.1 was trying to send data behind the scenes. That got uninstalled toot sweet.
