Thanks

I'll keep caller display as that is useful. I may have just escaped this as I pay my line rental upfront for a year. I did mine in December.

I'm OK :)

Quote:
Included in your phone package
Unlimited calls to UK landlines at any time
Inclusive calls to 0845 and 0870 numbers at any time
Get BT Privacy and BT 1471 at no extra cost

You can also add BT Answer 1571 and BT Privacy with Caller Display (12 months Free with a new 12 month line rental contract) for £1.75 each. Find out more here.

Looks like I don't have 1471 or 1571 selected but I am getting caller display so I'll leave well alone.

"unlimited calls to UK landlines at any time" ..........
Do you have a way of knowing a land line from a cell ( mobile) ?

Yes, mobiles do cost extra. However, for the £7.30 a month (used to be £5.15 till this year) I'm happy to have free calls to normal numbers. I reckon I do make full use of it, especially when I'm working from home and make quite a few 0208 calls.

Yes because mobiles all begin with 07 as where landlines are for 01 for nationwide or 0207/0208 for London...

Are, there you go. Here in North America. The area code is the same, for both landlines and cell
(mobile) lines

Wow! That's very different from here. Does it cost the same to call a mobile as it costs to call a landline? Here, calling mobiles (from a landline) is far more expensive, so we need to know if the number we're calling is a mobile.

As you have no way of telling if the line is cell or land. The cost would have to be the same.
A call within your billing area, eg. If you lived in Uxbridge and you called another number in Uxbridge. This would be free. If you called Slough or Liverpool, this would be long distance. Over seas cost a fortune.
There are plenty of products on the market to get over this. I have a product called "Magic-Jack". This plugs in to my computer or directly into my Internet. For a yearly subscription of $20, I can call USA & Canada for free. For an extra $20 I can call the the UK for around 950 minuets.
When I travel, I take it with me and use from anywhere within North America.
