Hello and thank you to anyone still reading this topic and apologies for my long absence. I won't bore you with the details but suffice to say I am making the most of my move down to the South Coast 2 years ago.

So what has prompted me to post again after so long ?

In a nutshell the prospects for the week ahead. Temperatures in the London area reached 30.5c earlier today and may well exceed that tomorrow. There are signs of a slight cool down midweek, but increasing chances of temperatures rising again as we head towards and into next weekend. I tend to treat the weather models with a great deal of caution beyond 3-5 days ahead but they are signalling a heatwave quite similar to 1976.

I'll be keeping a close eye on it and hopefully posting more often throughout the summer.

Thanks for reading and I hope you are all well. 8-)

Thanks for the reply Robongar. I'm still about but definately not running 8-) .

It looks as though a max of 32c ( 90f ) was recorded in the London region today, most likely in the Hampton/Teddington area. Monday could see a maximum a degree or two higher but becoming slightly cooler midweek, though uncertain what will happen beyond that.

Hi Moley

I was away for a while because I changed my password and it got corrupted. refused to let me in on the changed one. Managed to get it to work, eventually.

Teddington, my guess is a sensor at the National Physics Lab?

Definitely too hot for me.

Hello Kremmen, nice to see you're still around and posting, always appreciated. The official max for yesterday ( June 18th 2017 ) according to the Met Office was 32.1c at Hampton Water Works so not far from Teddington.

That was just pipped today by 32.4c at Raf Northolt. Down here on the sunny south coast it's a mere 29.7c 8-) .

It looks as though thats the peak of this hot spell for now with temperatures falling back throughout the week to near average levels of 20/21c by the weekend, and the possibilty of such much needed rain on Saturday.

Looking forward to Friday when it cools down.

I see they are forecasting dry thunder again for later. They forecast it for Sat/Sun but didn't happen.

So much for my earlier prediction that Monday/Tuesday was the peak of the current hot spell. The Met Office have confirmed the temperature reached 34.5c at Heathrow today ( Wednesday ). I'm clearly losing touch !

Here on the South Coast it reached 31.0c with barely a breeze to cool things down. Definately looking at temperatures much closer to the average by the weekend though, just in time for my friend who's coming down from London for a couple of days. :-(.

Yesterday was hot, today looking better, just need to shift the heat from the house.

I forgot you were on the south coast now, I was in Eastbourne a few weeks ago. Managed to grab the good week before 2 weeks of cold and rain.
