The heatwave affecting parts of South West USA had tragic consequences as 19 firefighters were reportedly killed fighting a wildfire blaze in Arizona.

I think I'm right in saying that many US firefighters are in fact volunteers from the local community ?

I don't know if anybody is interested or cares. It's 38 deg C, feels like 47 with the humidex here in the Bannana belt of Canada ( Windsor, ontario) today.
In around 4 months time, it will probably be around -25 deg C feeling like -35 with the wind chill factor.

Just thought you would like to know.

I'm interested Batty so thanks for posting. I haven't had a chance to look at the wider picture just lately but that must be close to a September record in that neck of the woods ?

Quite mild here in Perth although it should warm up a bit this weekend.
Inland is getting hot weather in the wake of recent cyclone.
TV news showed a bloke frying an egg on a spade. (They always do that )

Don't they know about "frying pans" in Perth?
