Would this work to try and stop the bots ?

https://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtop ... &t=1547715

We have the same problem over on another forum I'm involved with and currently the only way to stop it seems to be the option to have Admin approval. The problem there is that you email gets full up daily and you have to try and weedle out the good from the bad.

Capcha is useless, tried it, failed

He's going to have a look at this solution over there as well and like yourself he's a bit wary about running scripts. If he has any joy I'll let you know.

This does seem to be getting out of control. He activated some setting that allowed the likes of Google and Bing to 'search' and this must be what the bots home in on.

At the moment he's set the board to need Admin activation and he's getting up to a hundred emails a day from these things.

I've got this set so people have to answer a question. That seems to be working. The spammer that posted the other day was inadvertently activated by one of our admins who mistook it for a real person.
