'Her Indoors' went outdoors today to Yeading Tesco

She said it was almost deserted and wondered why.

It turns out that apparently a convertible car overturned on the by-pass roundabout blocking the entrance to the road leading to Tesco

Rumour is that it rolled several times

I've always said that trying to come out of Glencoe Road onto the roundabout is dangerous with the speed they zoom down from the White Hart

Used to be a 50 limit, now reduced to 40, but 60 to 70 is the norm

Now if ever there was a need for a speed camera ......................

They should have built the by pass as an underpass, that way people leaving would be slowing down on the off ramp.

The whole area around the roundabout is dangerous.

The builder has just installed a roundabout here and it gives great amusement watching N Americans facing this terrifying new monster. I fell back into routine too easily and have to give myself a slap each time : Counter clockwise !!

A roundabout was tried here close to a shopping mall in Louisiana, so funny, tire tracks go straight across.

Looking at the picture in the Gazette, the windscreen is flattened and would appear the roll-over bars were not activated (usually behind the front seats/head rests in most cars)

The non deployment of automatic roll bars is always a headache for rescuers (and bystanders attempting to help), as the pop up roll bars could activate at any time. Not good news if leaning over one administering first aid or preparing to remove the casualty from the car.

With un-deployed multiple air bags, seat belt pre-tensioners, and unleaded fuel which is more difficult to extinguish that leaded, it could be argued that a stationary crashed car is often more dangerous than it was travelling through the air second before. Something to bear in mind if you witness such an incident and want to help out
