Did anyone on here attend the Botwell Pop Festival in June 1963? Names appaearing, Gerry & the Pacemakers, Del Shannon, Most Brothers, etc. It was held in church grounds if I remember correctly, the stage was just some scaffolding with a sheet of canvas as a bit of a roof.
Pictures taken at the festival. Click on each of the two pictures to get a larger view.

.... also Cliff Bennett & the Rebel Rousers and Billy J Kramer & the Dakota's appeared - what a bill for such a small venue. I remember travelling from my home in Chalfont St Pter to attend the festival, it seemed a long way away in those days!

I'd heard of Woodstock and the Isle of Wight, but not Botwell...right on my doorstep!

I think Cliff Bennett or one of his Rebel Rousers lived in Leven Way Hayes (just off Wood End Green Rd) near the school.

Is that the one where Joe Brown and the Bruvvers appeared?
A great guitarist, he played Hava Nagila behind his back.
:D

I remember Joe Brown at the Savoy in Southsea, the stage looked out over the Solent, the QE/QM went by, he stopped playing to watch, never seen anything like it being from the smoke.
