I wrote to my Conservative MP concerning all the media hype about diesels three weeks BEFORE the General Election was announced. I received NO reply. Then last week, I received an 'apologetic email explaining that my original email to my then MP had been 'accidentally' directed into his Spam Box. Yesterday, 03-06-17, I received another email from him, with a letter as an attachment. Below are the full contents of that letter.
At no point in my communication to my then MP did I suggest, or even imply, that I was concerned about air pollution. I did mention the exhaust contents of modern petrol engines, and explained that a modern diesel in probably cleaner than a modern petrol engine. I stated that the exhausts from a petrol engined vehicle, especially large petrol engined vehicles, are even more objectionable to pedestrians and following drivers than a modern diesel is; due largely to the fact that petrol engines are far less efficient than diesels, and therefore burn more fuel and produce more emissions.
If the political and media concern is about soot from modern diesels, those black deposits around the outlet of the exhaust pipe of petrol engined cars and motor cycles is actually a mix of soot and unburned fuel.
The letter below that fails to answer any questions, but does contain an indication as to what is in store for us AFTER the election. I've strongly believed that the 'target' is diesel today, and petrol tomorrow. I now suspect that it's diesel AND petrol after the election:
Quote:
Thank you for contacting me about diesel cars. My wife drives a diesel car, so I appreciate why you're concerned! It’s clear we both agree that air pollution is a real problem and we've got a duty to improve air quality. We need to make – and have been making – significant investments in green technologies; since 2011, more than £2 billion has been spent on encouraging ultra-low emissions vehicles and greener transport schemes, with a further £290 million committed in 2016 to support electric vehicles, low emission buses and taxis, and alternative fuels.
These measures haven’t only focussed on diesel cars, but on other types of vehicles too. For example, the Green Bus Fund involved £89 million of funding to help purchase over 1,200 green buses, with another 300 added in July last year. And we’ve also encouraged green commercial vehicles by extending the Plug-in Van Grant to include heavier lorries, spending £20 million on the Future Fuels for Flight and Freight Competition, and another £20 million to enable the freight and logistics sector to test the latest low and zero emission vehicle technologies. This is on top of the 2015 national air quality plan for nitrogen dioxide, which introduced Clean Air Zones, where targeted action is taken to improve air quality.
Specifically on diesels, new information has now come to light on real world emissions from diesel vehicles, so the Government has – rightly – got to take action. But you – and the Fuel Campaigners you mention – are also right that it has to be properly targeted rather than just a knee-jerk response. For example, you mention the most modern Euro-cat-6 diesel engines are much cleaner than their older diesel or petrol cousins, and both are less polluting than a poorly-maintained engine of any kind. I’m also reassured that the Prime Minister has said she's very conscious of the way past governments have encouraged people to buy diesel cars, so I'm sure Ministers will take this into account as they finalise their proposals.
I believe we are about to experience a massive hike in ALL motoring taxes. This would fit with government's ceaseless 'greed' for ever-more money; and the Agenda 21/Agenda 2030, which is to price all private transport out of the reach of ordinary people. After the election we can also expect to experience much greater pressure to move to, and live in Smart Cities. Smart Cities, where there will be no private transport, and where we can be far more easily controlled by the elitist globalists.
Changing direction, but remaining on topic. President Trump has announced that he is having nothing to do with the Paris Agreement on Climate Change. Trump's message has resulted in an outcry across the globe from the globalist elite. With City Mayors across the USA stating that they will not be bound by Trump's decision. City Mayors across the globe are now deliberately undermining the nation state in a move that will lead directly to a One-World Government, a form of government that will be as far from democratic as North Korea is now.
It now appears that the elitists are in a big hurry to form their One-World Government.
