Being slightly on the inside, TfL are quite serious about going cashless this Summer. Only protests from foreign tourists etc will reverse their decision.

is it just oyster cards that are valid I have bank cash cards but not oyster not that would dream of traveling by bus other than emergency but have a bus pass just in case. :oops:

Jim, you can get a Freedom Pass for ... free.

Well worth the application form.

Yes you can register a Debit or Credit card but there is no daily cap on those so you pay for every journey. With Oyster you are charged up to the daily Travelcard rate and then all subsequent journeys are free.

However a Freedom Pass is free.

Bus and Tube 24x7 and BR from 09:30 onwards.

I make good use of mine to save on parking fees if I'm only going out for a few bits. Plus I'm still working and I have quite a few client visits up town and I use it every time. Has saved me a fortune.

If you're 60+, live in London, you initially get a Boris pass that expires when your full Freedom Pass entitlement starts. In my case that will be 62½.
