So last October I sent her driving licence to Swansea and her Blue Badge to Hillingdon. Both with a full explanation.

Last week a Blue Badge renewal form popped through the door so I phoned them.

"You'll need to write in with a full details"

Erm, I did that last year and you've obviously ignored it so I won't be, just take this phone call as confirmation that she won't be returning the form.

"We need it in writing" Tough

Oh dear. But does that mean the badge won't be renewed?

Don't need it renewed as she passed away last October. I told them that when I returned it but they want me to write in again.

If they want to send me another one I'll happily use it but I played the game and returned it.

Oh right, yes, sorry.. Well they're being very stupid and illogical. What goes through their minds?

Max £5000 fine for improper use or 12 Months in jail mate. They are taking large steps now to crack down the abuse of these badges.

New fly on the wall BBC documentary on Wednesday nights has a bloke in Southwark or Croydon whose sole job it is to weed out improper use of blue badges. He has cars towed and all sorts even if he suspects improper use.

About time too, for too long they have been used as a bona fida currency in parts of London and this devalues the scheme for the people that really need top use it.

And I have no qualms in saying that as a single bloke in the car I would have no problems parking in a family bay at the supermarket but of course would respect the disabled bays close to the door.

Why should families get preferential parking? They are not disabled!!

I no longer have 'her' blue badge. I returned it to the Hillingdon Blue Badge team with a covering note last October after I phoned them to confirm what I should do with it destroy/return.

She got a renewal notice last week so I phoned them to point out their error and they wanted me to write in again. I told them I already had and I had better things to do with my time than repeat what I did last October which may get ignored again.

They won't be sending out a new one as I've destroyed the renewal application.

automation is a great thing until you need a human to tick/untick a box.
my dad was still getting letters from the bank two years later offering him loans.

Yes, bank loans are another annoyance. They obviously haven't got a system that looks at your balances and can determine the ones that may need one
