If it's any help.
The Great Lakes ice coverage was 600% above normal this last winter.

Meanwhile, sunspot activity for the current solar cycle number 24 is about at its peak, and is the weakest since 1906.

This article dated is December 11th 2013:

SAN FRANCISCO — The sun's current space-weather cycle is the most anaemic in 100 years, scientists say.
Our star is now at "solar maximum," the peak phase of its 11-year activity cycle. But this solar max is weak, and the overall current cycle, known as Solar Cycle 24, conjures up comparisons to the famously feeble Solar Cycle 14 in the early 1900s, researchers said.
"None of us alive have ever seen such a weak cycle. So we will learn something," Leif Svalgaard of Stanford University told reporters here today (Dec. 11) at the annual meeting of the American Geophysical Union. [Solar Max: Amazing Sun Storm Photos of 2013]

This article is dated 2nd of May 2014:
http://solarscience.msfc.nasa.gov/predict.shtml

Quote:
The current prediction for Sunspot Cycle 24 gives a smoothed sunspot number maximum of about 70 in the fall of 2013. The smoothed sunspot number reached 75.0 in October 2013) so the official maximum will be at least this high. The smoothed sunspot number has been rising again towards this second peak over the last five months and has now surpassed the level of the first peak (66.9 in February 2012). Many cycles are double peaked but this is the first in which the second peak in sunspot number was larger than the first. We are currently over five years into Cycle 24. The current predicted and observed size makes this the smallest sunspot cycle since Cycle 14 which had a maximum of 64.2 in February of 1906.

Of course, the sun's output has nothing to do with the earth's temperatures. We know that's the case because the the global warming 'climate scientists' tell us the sun has nothing to do with it.

If the sun's sunspot activity continues in the way it appears to be going, then the 'global warmists' are going to be compelled to face up to reality and admit they are false prophets. I'm not holding my breath for an outbreak of honesty from these people any day soon, but the 'climate change/global warmists' must now be getting quite disturbed by the ways things are shaping up.

And this:

Quote:
When the history of the global warming scare comes to be written, a chapter should be devoted to the way the message had to be altered to keep the show on the road. Global warming became climate change so as to be able to take the blame for cold spells and wet seasons as well as hot days. Then, to keep its options open, the movement began to talk about “extreme weather”. Those who made their living from alarm, and by then there were lots, switched tactics and began to jump on any unusual weather event, whether it was a storm, a drought, a blizzard or a flood, and blame it on man-made carbon dioxide emissions.  –Matt Ridley, The Australian, 10 July 2013
