Whats the bet Boris will feign disappointment and then tow the party line (thinking of all the Uxbridge voters) and back Heathrow's 3rd runway despite it being 'mad' 'bonkers' etc

How many Billions will they spend on HST2?

Significant numbers of voters in Uxbridge will be against Heathrow expansion just for the extra traffic and pollution problems it will bring to the area. Boris will be very aware of that.

If he is going to go on to lead the Tory party he will still need a seat somewhere. A seat close to LHR (and the problems which come with it) could end up with him telling this so called commission to think again.

If Boris is going to try and win Uxbridge and Ruislip would switching his allegiance to Heathrow, against Hillingdon Council, be counter productive ?

I don't live in the Hillingdon area but I've always believed that despite smoke-screens and weasel words from politicians, Heathrow would be expanded, I get the feeling that the decision was taken secretly a long time ago.
