Couple of weeks ago the BBC did a Panorama program about racists on the football terraces in Poland and the Ukraine, clearly as the Euro finals are coming along.

Since then there have been numerous debates on BBC radio and the news item is being driven across the TV news channels. We now have professional footballers being asked how they will react if they suffer such abuse during games. Some pundits are now saying team captains should lead their teams from the field of play, others that the referees should suspend the games for a period of time.

Platini who heads up EUFA has also had to go on the record to say that the referees have been told how to react should they need to.

A problem of proportions has been created even before a ball has been kicked. Is this not typical of the BBC in trying to drive their own agenda perhaps with a view to getting Europe to enact some of the same racism laws we already have in the UK?

They are certainly working some people up into a froth about this.

Don't get me wrong racism (chanting) is wrong where and however it is delivered but we are talking about a few dozen idiots here. It seems these few dozen are able to control how the whole tournament will be played. If they are able to disrupt things and maybe force a ref to take the teams from the field would that not be seen as a huge victory for them? By the way, the debate is going it sounds like people will expect this to happen.

If the BBC had not highlighted the issues being caused by these few dozen then none of this would have occurred.

The Polish and Ukrainian police are shall we say some of the most robust in the World. I am sure they are under strict orders from their governments to nip any of this in the bud as and when it occurs.

Who do the BBC think they are? They have handed a huge victory to the racists and turned the news agenda away from the football to how these idiots (and the way the police react to them) behave on the terraces. Expect the issues to be discussed through the tournament.

If they had kept quiet I am sure the police would have gone about their jobs quietly cracking a few heads here and there and nobody would be any the wiser. Most importantly these idiots would not have been given a platform to exhibit their behaviour to the world.
