This will be the main topic as time goes on, what has it done for us ? are we better or worse off ? do we need to share the pot any thinner ? how much is it costing the British Taxpayer ? what benefits have we had so far ? and is it worth it ? soon the pro's and con's will be laid out before us, and will depend on the givers, and takers, how it goes for future generations, our descendants, who perhaps will never ever get the in, or out, choice ! time now to weigh up the pro's and con's and not get caught napping like we usually do. we now have the United Nations, looking down not like 1939. ;) 8-)

The EU has been an incalculable political and financial disaster for Britain. An organisation built and sustained on deception.

I agree Jon.

What gets me is this £26m a day that we pay them and in return they dictate our laws

We do need a re-negotiation which includes we decide our own laws and if we want to deport an illegal terrorist then we can do, passport or not.

Getting a bit ahead of ourselves are we not?

Only one party has promised a referendum and only then if they get to form the next Government with a majority...

Current opinion polls are not optimistic for them and there is the UKIP angle to consider in 2015.

My guess.. Another hung Parliament or low Labour majority but with a handful <25 of seats going to Farage's party.

There will still be much reluctance to offer one but as UKIP has seats in the house the noise may become unbearable.

The Juggernaut once it starts to roll will be unstoppable and the earlier folk weigh up the pros, and cons, the better chance we have of getting it right, as the time draws near, the press will spring into action, and the general public, will be conditioned into the political will of whatever party that Governs at that time. As is normal in this Country all political issues will be decided by those who don't vote, rather than them that do. that's democracy GB style. :o :(

Cameron has finally realised that unless he takes it on the chin there is going to be a continual slide towards UKIP as true Brits show where their allegiances lie.

I think he has to do something. Didn't he promise a referendum before he got in which has been continually postponed. Before he got 'Farage'd' he was talking about 'after the next election'.

I personally let quite let down by the Tories considering how dominant they said they were going to be and the damp squib they've turned out to be.

The EU project has been built on lies and deceit from day one. It began as a 'Common Market' for coal and steel, the ECSC in 1951 under the Treaty of Paris. In 1957 at the signing of the Treaty of Rome the European Economic Community EEC (known as the Common Market) was formed.

In 1967 at the signing of the Treaty of Brussels the EEC, the ECSC, EURATOM,and other 'communities' were merged into one EEC, still widely known as the Common Market. It was this Common Market that was sold to the British people in a referendum in 1973.

In 1993 at the Treaty of Maastricht, the EEC was transformed into the European Community, the EC. The EC consisted of the EC (European Communities), the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP), and the Police and Judicial Co-operation in Criminal Matters (PJCC). In December 2009 the Treaty of Lisbon (signed by that secretive coward Gordon Brown) combined all into the EUROPEAN UNION (EU).

The EU is an undemocratic political union formed for the benefit of unelected commissioners, a High Representative, and other high-ranking unelected EU government representatives.

In true Communist style, each European treaty is irreversible. No treaty can be diminished or any part retracted. Every successive treaty can only add to the powers of previous treaties. This ongoing process ensures ever-closer political union; a process that no MP or politician will admit to. Even now Cameron is still talking of renegotiating Britain's membership of the EU. There is no provision in previous treaties for any renegotiation of any treaty that means repatriating powers back to the nation state. The whole European treaty process is a one-way street directed at achieving a centralised undemocratic European Super-State.

The European project began as a pack of lies and deceit, and to this day, political lies and deceit continue to mislead the electorate into accepting its own subjugation into a European monster having truly frightening characteristics.

The chances of the UK ever being given an honest IN/OUT referendum on EU membership is somewhere between zero and nothing. The political elite have us where they want us, and they are not going to let go without a very tough struggle.
