Quote:
Ken Livingstone, who has attacked tax avoiders as “rich b-------” who should “not be allowed to vote”, has avoided at least £50,000 in tax by having himself paid through a personal company.

Can't see his election campaign going to well.

and yesterday....

David Miliband paid £70,000 for just three days' work advising venture capitalists investing in 'green' technology

Socialist politicians at their very best....... No doubt David was giving them a heads up on how to claim all the taxpayer funded subsidies there are going!!

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politic ... n-tax.html

Quote:
Accountants shown the documents by The Sunday Telegraph say the move appears designed to ensure that Mr Livingstone paid corporation tax at 20 or 21 per cent, rather than income tax at up to 40 per cent — a loophole the former mayor has himself attacked as “Robin Hood in reverse”. Mr Livingstone confirmed this arrangement last night.
He is also able to split his income 50-50 with his wife, even though it was earned entirely by him, saving further tax, and pay Mrs Livingstone from company funds as his “assistant”.
Quote:
Mr Livingstone, who has called for a top tax rate of 80 per cent, has made attacking “the rich” a key part of his campaign to retake his old job at this May’s election. He has criticised tax avoiders, saying: “These rich b------- just don’t get it… No one should be allowed to vote in a British election, let alone sit in Parliament, unless they pay their full share of tax.
The hypocrisy of these people is staggering.

No matter what Boris does or doesn't do I will never vote for Ken. It's all down to trust.

Because their parents, grandparents, great grandparents, ad infinitum, always voted for the same party. Too many of the electorate are still ballot box automatons. The parties know this and they exploit it to the full.

I know that as my Dad was Labour through and through having been through the depression in the twenties, he even migrated to Canada after the first world war and was in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police as it was then known, My Mum who was Scottish went out there working in service for a church minister, they came back and settled in Fulham in 1931, the end of that year I was born, we all moved out to the country (Hayes) in 1938 WW2 came and went and he was still red hot Labour, I was also when I first started to vote, but I saw the light once Clem Atlee was out, and have never voted for them since, as it became obvious it was nothing more than a charter for the lazy, with its trade union connections and the demarcation policy, that killed off the ship building industry, Scargil confirmed what a cosy club the union heads had carved for themselves, as one industry after another, was bought to its knees by the bully boys, now as a free thinking person have never looked back, its unlucky to be superstitious, so I make my own luck, learn from the mistakes of others. ;) ;)

Ken Livingstone has said he will take a pay cut if re-elected as London mayor.

Livingstone, who was ousted as mayor by Johnson in 2008 and is seeking to cast him as out of touch with the plight of ordinary Londoners, told the Guardian he would also cut back on the number of City Hall staff earning above £100,000 if re-electe

The key findings are:
§ There were 2,295 council employees receiving total remuneration in excess of
£100,000 in 2009-10, an increase of 18 per cent on the previous year‟s 1,941.
This may partly be explained by a rise in the number receiving significant redundancy
payments.
§ 48 council employees received remuneration over £250,000 in 2009-10, up from
19 in 2008-09.
§ 506 council employees received remuneration between £150,000 and £249,999
in 2009-10, up from 408 in 2008-09.
§ The average total remuneration increase for staff in the Town Hall Rich list and
in post for both full years from 2008-09 to 2009-10 was 3.8 per cent.

As I said previous its a job for the boys, back scratching is the name of the game, Livingstone has carved out a lucrative career, highlighting what others get, stirring up the sheeple sneaking in the back door and scooping the cream, he says whatever he thinks you want to hear, and believes we are here as his political fodder, cant stand the bloke. ;) ;)

I will be voting for him, as I see him the least worst of all the candidates.

I watched bumbling Boris in action (or is it 'inaction') on the parliament channel a couple of days ago (with his sycophantic GLA crew led by our Richard Barnes). It was embarrassingly awful. With all of his media commitments (including writing for the Torygraph -perhaps the biggest Ken hating rag), plus all his photo opportunities as mayor, when does he get time to do any mayor staff?

With the media anti Ken and pro Boris, I can't see Ken getting in, but even I'd rather have a go as mayor than seeing BoJo represent this fine city. I get the feeling after this post, I wouldn't get many votes from you lot!!!!!

One of my main reasons for not voting Ken is his 'congestion' charge regime.

I believe that if he's been voted in then the M4 by Heathrow and the western section of the M25 would have been pay per mile by now and I just couldn't afford that.

He wants everyone on public transport regardless of whether you'd be travelling longer per day than actually working. It's OK for him, he lives by a tube station on the Jubilee line which just happens to have a station right by his old office.

In my case, to use public, I'd be travelling for just over 5 hours a day. By car it's 30 mins in and 40 mins out.
