Pubs are different these days John. I'm off to check out a pub in Uxbridge tomorrow to see if it's suitable to take my grandchildren to next week.

A few years ago we would never have dreamed of taking little children for lunch in a pub but nowadays it's normal.

In the 70's I think I visited every pub in WD and Cowley on a regular basis. The Brush was quite nice. The Cherry Tree seemed to be watering the beer down because we never got drunk. William IV in Sipson seemed to get the snobs so that was only frequented after we'd had a few.
The Red Cow was OK as a finale as there was a good Chinese take-away next door.

This evening my husband and I ventured out to the Watersedge public house, now I think this might be in Cowley rather than West Drayton.

We had an enjoyable meal and a couple of drinks, and there 3 or 4 other groups there too.

This is one to add to my list of pubs to frequent in the area

Our pub crawl last night took us to the following

George & Dragon - quite a nice pub, food menu seemed reasonably priced and we may go back for the quiz on a Sunday evening. The only bad point was that there only seemed to be one ladies loo.

The Red Cow - better music than the other pubs, although the decor and furniture were a bit odd

The Deburgh arms - yes with a few drinks inside us we ventured in, only good thing were the toilets.

Finally the six bells - bar staff very good, music retro dance music it had a bit of a dance floor that appeared empty.

Finished off with a curry from Garlic which is our favourite.

Maybe I have been away from the area too long, however here goes. "Is The Oak " pub in Cowley still in use ,or has that disappeared along with a large number of Dellfield Rd locals?

Yes it is/was a hungry horse type place, used to take the kids for eats when they were much smaller.

Ok for a visit but the locals are very clicky..
