Here is an indicator as to how serious the Government is NOT taking the 'economic crisis' within the UK and across the EU; civil servants can work from home FOR SEVEN WEEKS during the Olympics. How many of them will be glued to their home TVs instead of working? How secure will home-working be for thousands of civil servants supposedly working from home? The nation can go to hell in a hand cart, but civil servants can be excused the hassle of getting to and from work during the Olympics. Is it absolutely incredible.

Whitehall officials have been told that they can take advantage of flexible working arrangements even after the Games have finished.
Seventeen government departments have signed up to a target to ‘cut or change’ half of journeys by civil servants.

If Greece exits the Euro perhaps it could trigger the collapse of the industrialised world? It has been said that such a collapse is the responsibility of the UN: and its world-wide Green agenda.

If the greeks go then perhaps a common currency 4 them with Turkey and some of the states on the levant and Medditeranean could bring about stabilisation and aid democracy after teh Arab Spring.

By the same token Northern and republic of Ireland might reunify as a republic in EFTA and the Commonwealth (if the UK mainland doesn't want to carry on subsidisation or the Republics voters reject reunification giventthe hisotrical differences and states over the past 100 years.

Yes Jim clearly Kent CC don't want to be caught with their pants down.... ;) It will have the effect though of starting a silent bank run.. Maybe even a noisy one aka Northern Rock.. Lets see what the news tells us over the next few days but I expect there will be lots of spokespersons on emphasising the FSA guarantee.

As for LBH I see Mr Bianco is still Cabinet Member for Finance, Property and Business Services. If this was a private Company the shareholders would have shown him the door years ago. Because it is the council and a closed shop his mates keep him on board....

James, You may be onto something there. We are told that history has a habit of repeating itself, see the map below.
