I live in Lincolnshire near where the Euro-Fighters are based (Coningsby) and see them most days, if you are hearing the planes flying, they are so fast you need to look way ahead of the noise they are creating in order to see them.
They are smaller than might think, many a time you hear them and instinctively look in the direction of the noise, but in reality they are far ahead (Soundwave effect).
They often fly in two's or three's so if you miss one, wait and look for the next one, bearing in mind that they are very noisy and give the impression that they are closer to you than they really are. Good Luck.

^^ Good point Black Fox. They are almost certain to be flying today, theres an event being held at the Olympic Stadium and The F.A Cup Final at Wembley. Ideal training opportunities and a chance to show them off !!

Edited @ 12.45pm.

Thought so, 2 of them have just flown right above my rooftop, difficult to guage the height but I would say approximately below 1000 ft ?? Aircraft landing at Heathrow are approaching from the west so the Typhoons would presumably approach Northolt from the same direction when landing.

I heard one take off about 2.45 this afternoon and dashed to my daughter's loft room (as I have seen they fly in pairs) to see the second take off.

Blimey, what an amazing sight. The plane took off very steeply east towards London. It got a few hundred metres up before a large flames was emitted from it's engine. At this point the plane suddenly turned right in an almost 90 degree turn and zoomed off towards Heathrow (over Hayes). What a noise that after burner thing made. I hope my double glazing will survive as its getting a fair old rattling every time this machines fly

Some of the best ones.....
The second and third shots give an excellent view of the Advanced Short Range Air-to-Air Missile ASRAAM air to air missile on the weapons rack under the port wing.. (Left for you non technical types)

The full spec of the Typhoon is here which gives the full arm capability.

I have heard them all afternoon and each time rushed to the windows to see.....nothing. Wish I had seen the Telegraph photos earlier.....tomorrow I might venture to Northolt to take a look and get a few picture for my dad. I was fortunate enough to have an uncle working for the RAF and was given a tour of RAF Lossiemouth and got to sit in a Jaguar. All day standing on the nearby golf course, I watched Jags, Buccaneers, Phantoms and Shackletons doing their sorties and the occasional Nimrod would fly by - great holiday for a 14/15yr old.

My father worked on that base when it was a RNAS he was an aircraft fitter in the Fleet Air Arm. Buccaneers and I think Phantoms back in those days and I can just about recall seeing England win the World cup on a black and white TV. Spent a very happy 3 years living there and underwent my primary school education at the top end of Moray Street.....
