No idea what had happened but the police accident investigation unit was on site doing a skid test. Very serious accident must have happened sometime earlier.

Boy, 3, dies after Kingshill Avenue collision
Jul 15 2013 By Jack Griffith
A THREE-year-old boy has died in a road accident in the Yeading area.

The collision, involving the child and a flatbed recovery truck, happened in Kingshill Avenue, Northolt, at around 12.20pm this afternoon (Monday, July 15).

The air ambulance attended and the boy was taken to a west London hospital, but he later died from his injuries. His family have been informed, and a post mortem is due.

Police now want witnesses to the accident to come forward. No arrests have been made, and the Road Death Investigation Unit at Northolt is investigating.

If you have information that could assist detectives, call 0208 842 1817

Thanks for the info Hayesboy. Not good hearing about a child being killed on the road.
I Hate Kingshill Ave. I live just off it and travel along it most days. Since they have put the "Traffic calming measures" in I thinks it's worse.
I wonder if there will be any publication in to the cause of this accident.. :(

Sad

Looking at the photo I can see 2 options:

1) Boy ran into road and lorry swerved
2) lorry mounted pavement

blame game solves nothing, a three year old boy, and fast moving traffic just don't mix, a lack of thought somewhere lays at the core, and any amount of speculation solves nothing, it just should not have happened if everyone was blameless, and the different views solve nothing, all the "what ifs" just confuse, clouding the issue is the natural reaction.

3 year olds are so fast. My colleague at work left her 3 year old with a child minder and the little one ran into the road under an Uxbridge skip lorry a few years ago. It wasn't the lorry driver's fault.

What a terrible tragedy - poor little mite

Looking at the skid marks in the road, I would say boy ran out in front of vehicle and the driver swerved to avoid him. so sad for all concerned.

And the poor lorry driver will have that haunting him for the rest of his life.

A friend of mine who lives there said the dad let go of the boy who then ran straight out in the road. He reckons the dad then chased the driver holding a knife!

He sent me this pic of the air ambulance. Tricky place to land.

Impressive looking at the lamposts and trees close by.

Not so much the size of the body of the chopper but the footprint the rotor blades inhabit.
