following on from that
This is not a new sentiment but if we keep forwarding it perhaps it will get to someone who has Vince Cable's email address. He's old enough to be concerned - Cameron and Clegg are far too young and rich to care.

Makes you weep - or be bl--dy annoyed.

Dear Prime Minister The RT. HON. David Cameron. MP.
I wish to ask you a Question :- " Is This True ?"
I refer to the Pension Reality Check.

Are you aware of the following ?
The British Government provides the following financial assistance:-
BRITISH OLD AGED PENSIONER (bearing in mind they worked hard and paid their Income Tax and National Insurance contributions to the British government all their working life) Weekly allowance: £106.00
IMMIGRANTS/REFUGEES LIVING IN BRITAIN (No Income Tax and National Insurance contribution whatsoever) Weekly allowance:£250.00
BRITISH OLD AGED PENSIONER Weekly Spouse allowance: £25.00
ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS/REFUGEES LIVING IN BRITAIN Weekly Spouse allowance: £225.00
BRITISH OLD AGED PENSIONER Additional weekly hardship allowance£0.00
ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS/REFUGEES LIVING IN BRITAIN Additional weekly hardship allowance £100.00
A British old age pensioner is no less hard up than an illegal immigrant/refugee yet receives nothing
BRITISH OLD AGED PENSIONER TOTAL YEARLY BENEFIT £6,000
ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS/REFUGEES LIVING IN BRITAIN TOTAL YEARLY BENEFIT: £29,900
Please read all and then forward to all your contacts so that we can lobby for a decent state pension.

After all, the average pensioner has paid taxes and contributed to the growth of this country for the last 40 to 60 years.

Sad isn't it? Its about time we put our own people first. ;) ;)

I agree Jim pensions are too low and we do spend to much money on irrelevance but the facts in your list are just plain wrong.

Illegals cannot access the benefit system full stop..
Now if you were to change that terminology to something like former illegal immigrant granted indefinite leave to stay then it may be a little more credible but I still think the figures are way off.

You must bear in mind the UK is an inclusive Country, we still have a lot of gratitude to dish out based on the amount of Colonial pillaging we have done in the past. (Or so our leaders would have us believe).
UK taxpayers are amongst some of the most generous in the World, we cant even give it away now, India as an example.

Tax increases are necessary to pay these bonuses to Government employees for doing the jobs they are paid a good salary for doing.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/ ... bonus.html
Quote:
In the past year 56 senior officials - those in the highest civil service grades - shared £505,000, averaging £9,000 each. Junior staff were handed a total of £37.9 million, typically taking home £697 - meaning 54,375 of its employees received bonuses, a level in contrast to ministers’ intention that bonuses are not given routinely.
The highest level of bonuses were awarded to the Department of Work and Pensions, whose employees scooped £51 million. The Department of Transport paid out £9.2million, the Foreign Office £6.4 million and the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs £2.3 million. The Department for Education spent £1.9 million on bonuses, the Department for Health £1.7 million, the Cabinet Office £1.3million and the Department for Innovation and Skills £1.1million.
But it will be the two highest bonuses which raise most questions about the culture within the ministry.
The £85,831 payment - the same as the salary of a colonel in the Army - went to an unnamed senior civil servant who is understood to be a member of the Defence Board.

It oversees every aspect of the work of the MoD and includes three civil servants - Ursula Brennan, the permanent secretary, Bernard Gray, the chief of defence materiel and Jon Thompson, the director-general of finance.
Quote:
The MoD said it was impossible to rein in bonuses this year because of a three-year pay and bonuses deal implemented by the previous Labour government.
But the payments are in stark contrast to the settlement for soldiers, sailors and RAF personnel, who have had pay rises capped at 1 per cent.

in point of fact any pensioner who was stupid enough to put aside a bit for a rainy day, has had a pay cut due to little or no interest on any savings, seems a bit of hooding rob, to rob the poor to look after the rich. ;) ;)

Maybe it is time to count it a blessing that you had the good sense to leave the UK behind. As Jim has pointed out, those of who remained behind and who are drawing our full state pension, for which we paid in over a full working life, find it isn't actually worth very much now we do receive it.
