The council are clearly not happy with the racial undertones of them blacking their faces or I suppose the use of the word coco in their name.
The article says they have been doing it for donkeys years and that they continue more in tradition than anything else.
Clearly the council cannot ban them under usual racial legislation ect as it is this tradition and there is no suggestion anywhere that they do it to 'wind people up'.
Hence the drummed up H&S bullshit....
Next they will be airbrushing the Black and White minstrels from history!! Sound far fetched?
Not when Edinburgh police are looking for someone to charge for restoring a 1938 mural in a primary school....
