I believe the "elephant in the room", the issue that no one seems to want to confront is the fact that freemasonry is deep-rooted within the Met and has corrupted the force from top to bottom over many decades, and its dealings with some high echelon organised crime bosses, and of course not forgetting the judiciary.
I'm not saying that your ordinary everyday freemason is a corrupter or a bad person but freemasonry has the hidden power to corrupt from within much like the damage caused by cancer within the human body.

Think it is just a simple case of 1 DS being quite friendly with the father of one of the accused (now convicted).

There is also the rumour which has been on the back channels for years that Lawrence himself was a member of a black gang and not unused to a bit of racist behaviour himself.

I am just dismayed that it is all over our tv screens again.

I disagree that it's simply a case of one copper being friendly with a crim, nor is there any evidence that Stephen Lawrence was a member of any gang. Racism and corruption were allowed to exist within the Met and I'm pleased that after two decades of hiding evidence, lying, and downright bigotry the Met is once more in the news for its disgraceful behaviour. We need to see some prosecutions of those involved but I doubt that will ever happen - unfortunately.

I can't work out what is worse - the allegedly bent copper perhaps perverting the course of justice or under cover cops infiltrating protest groups?

Like throwing mud in a bucket, I feel sorry for the 1000s of coppers who do an honest days work trying to make things better who get muddied by the selfish actions of a few. But all we ever seem to here about is the endless queue of dodgy goings on in the Met. I wonder if the Met's just too big and needs breaking up into manageable chunks?

I am a huge supporter of undercover cops and other law enforcement agencies - and secret courts where secret material is likely to be disclosed in Courts (even appeals). But the spook cops and shady courts must only be used when absolutely necessary. For example, a suspect terrorist is fair game, but environmental campaigners exercising their democratic rights? - No way
