I am surprised the news that Boris may be considering Uxbridge to launch his campaign to become PM hasn't been mentioned on here. I do hope this is just another publicity stunt as I dont feel that this would not be good for Uxbridge or its voters. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-28254109 |

The report I saw mentioned Ux being a safe Tory seat. Stage 1 to PM maybe ? |

If the Tories do not gain an overall majority at the next Election (likely) then Cameron will be past his sell by date and it will be time for him to go. Boris has been one of the front runners tipped to replace him but will need to be a member of the HOC to do so. To achieve that he will need to contest a seat somewhere. Boris will be relaying upon the tenacity of constituency voters to elect either a blue or red rosette depending on the demographic. The seat mentioned of course would elect a blue rosette irrespective of who was standing. Didn't Hartlepool elect a monkey as Mayor once? I am sure the good people of Ruislip are capable of the same. |

I thought the monkey was mistaken for a French spy and hung. |

The sad truth is and it is tantamount to the state of politics in this Country that you can pin a red or a blue rosette on Peter Sutcliffe or someone similiar notoriety stand them in a traditional safe seat and they would still be elected. Some people vote in a particular way because they have always done so not knowing why other than well my dad voted that way so therefore I will also. Sad but true. Boris after all is not going to stand for election on his achievements in politics by contesting a seat in a Labour heartland in the North of England is he? Just goes to show how the whole barrel of excrement is tainted. |

If Boris did relinquish the mayorship I wonder if red Ken would change his statement of never running for mayor again ? |

I am not a huge Boris fan, but my opposition to his selection is mainly based on having a 'career' politician representing me in Westminster. The BBC were even suggesting he would keep is Mayor's post and be MP for Uxbridge. How much time or interest is he gunna have for the average Mr and Mrs Uxbridge when he is doing 2 x full times jobs and perhaps working towards as PM? Shersby was a good local politician with time for the people he represented as so is Randall. Boris will not give a monkeys. Taking of which, I'd rather vote for the Hartlepool United mascot - H'Angus the monkey - for Uxbridge MP. I understand the man inside that monkey suit has been very popular and successful up there |
