The pathetic political class can't be bothered to control our national boarders, but they do lock themselves behind high security steel barriers – at our expense:

Quote:
Cardiff city centre has been turned into a high security ‘prison’ with 10 miles of fencing - which is being dubbed the ‘ring of steel’ - ahead of the Nato conference next week.
Police have erected the nine feet high security fencing around Celtic Manor resort in Newport where Barack Obama, David Cameron and other world leaders will meet in Wales on September 4 and 5, as well as the city centre.
It comes as former foreign office minister, Kim Howells, issued fears that home grown Islamic State terrorists could be planning to attack the 2014 summit.

So they know the risks in the UK then.

They need to deal with it properly and not just try and brush it under the carpet.

I have to say that the location is curious. The previous G8 summits in the UK have been tucked away in deepest Scotland and last year, in rural northern Ireland. Much easier places to Police

However, this one is right on the M4 at Newport, in fact some of the fence is on the hard shoulder/

The venue is so close to local housing that some will be pretty much isolated during the conference and a number of local Schools will have to close to accommodate the security requirements. It doesnt seem quite right when there are other more remote venues that could cope much better than this one

You have hit the nail firmly on the head once again Westonman.

We are sleepwalking into a police state. Scenes like those in that article should not be tolerated anywhere in the UK, let alone in a major British city but it's slowly but surely creeping into our daily lives. Was it really that long ago the Berlin wall was toppled and seen as a sign of freedom and democracy ?

The rich and powerful are building more and more barriers and defences to protect themselves against a threat they are largely responsible for causing, whilst us ordinary folk pick up the cost and are left to fend for ourselves.

Perhaps Moley, there is some truth in this animated image:

From Wales Online.

Click through this series of photos to see what Britain in 2014 is becoming:
http://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wales ... le-7710003

The 'police' in some of the photos look more like heavily armed SAS and SBS operatives than civilian police.

How much is all this costing us?
Is it really necessary?
Why can't NATO use their own headquarters for this kind of military jamboree?
How long did it take to manufacture and obtain all that steel fencing, barricades, and security gates?
What will happen to all that security fencing and hardware after the NATO busy-bodies have left for home?

And – the big question for the political greenies who are constantly ramming the nonsense of man-made CO2 wrecking of the planet down our throats. What is the total size of the so-called 'carbon footprint' of the whole Cardiff/NATO charade?

Now compare the carbon footprint of the above ridiculous NATO pantomime with the reality of the report below, where we are being prepared for power blackouts and short-time working. All of which is solely due to the green insanity of the political class of the GreenLibLabCon traitors:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... kness.html

Quote:
Emergency measures will be introduced to prevent the lights going out this winter.
Offices and factories will be offered compensation to undergo 1970s-style energy rationing and shut down for up to four hours a day to prevent households being plunged into darkness.
In addition, owners of old power stations will be asked to switch them back on to meet the country’s demands.
National Grid had not planned to use this option until next winter.
National Grid had not planned to use this option until next winter.[/quote] National Grid were planning for power blackouts for the following winter. That would be AFTER the 2015 general election, and after the EU has full control over the governance of the UK. Whatever the political class are planning for us, it appears to be imminent.
