Tragic case. LOTS of sympathy for the parents on Youtube and social media:

Found in Spain. The apparent reason is that the boy has been refused the best drugs for his case on the NHS.

Enlightened parents trying to do their best for their sick son, or selfish negligent parents who should be locked up?

The video does challenge the perception created by the authorities, social media and news media

You all missing the big point here?
SOT touches on it......

Since when has it been illegal for parents to remove a child from hospital and why did they issue the so called international arrest warrant?

Granted it was not the clever thing to do but we do not know the exact circumstances except that the child has a brain tumour and it thought to be terminal.

Parents should be left alone to enjoy the little time they have with their son.

The media, police and all the rest of it should butt out.

Yes the parents were Jehovah Witnesses and that clearly featured in their decision but they may simply have been seeking some quiet quality time with the child in his final days/weeks or for some alternative therapy not available on the NHS.

Clearly as Jehovah's they will not accept traditional type treatments as is their right. In this case it seemed it was Radiation therapy.

We should all watch very closely There is an agenda at work here to reduce the rights of parents in deciding what is best for their children.

The father makes it quite clear in the video they acted because they asked the doctors about more targetted radiation used in other countries which causes less damage to the brain.

The response from the doctors was a lack of interest and then a threat of court action to bar them from being with their son if they continued to question their wisdom.

No wonder they got hold of their son as fast as they could and fled the country.

The authority in this case be it the NHS or the Police have none to bring Court Action...

These parents have done nothing illegal.

Just heard on the radio that Hampshire Police are sending a 'team of detectives' to Spain to investigate the matter!!

Does today's police not know what the law is? We go from one extreme with South Yorkshire turning a blind eye to systematic child abuse and rape of 11 year olds to Hampshire plod trying to made a case where none exists.

It's utterly barbaric that the parents are being held in custody, so their sick son is deprived of their love. They have six other children with them there too, now being looked after by the eldest, a 22 year old! The authorities care only about asserting their authority.

This tragic situation is not exactly the same as what I went through years ago (but feeling like a moment ago), but it is quite similar inasmuch that children are being separated from parents, or a mother as in my case. The emotional pain inflicted by this is indescribable, as it must be for these parents being put in custody and away from their sick child and their other children.

I hope that they are reunited soon and the little boy is able to have the treatment which is available once his medical records are released to the hospital team taking over, hopefully.

I have never been able to get over feeling that I inflicted emotional pain on my children by losing them, just because I took steps to protect them and their welfare. They suddenly didn't have me there as their mother and they didn't know why. This is a terrible thing for a parent to have to live with. These parents also have their son's best interests at heart and so, why they are in handcuffs as shown recently, is something I can't understand. It must already feel they are in a prison by being unable to see their children and I have the experience to know that this feeling is terrible to have to live with in the outside world. :|

I agree that the authorities have gone over the top, and thank goodness it's fooling no-one. It's wicked that they are to be seen being taken from the Spanish court in handcuffs. I am in sympathy with all the comments here, especially the last one.

I can't believe that the parents are being held in a jail. They have a son, aged 5yrs. old, who has recently had a brain tumour removed and are now trying to get the best treatment for him. The little boy is in a strange place and must be scared and distressed wondering why his parents are not with him, not to mention the other children. Rightly or wrongly they have gone through the experience of travelling away from all they knew, including their Grandmother, and the people they were trusting are not with them any more.
To me, I thought at the start, that it was unwise to leave the hospital with the little boy without informing the staff at the hospital. It did look a little bit furtive when we saw the picture caught on camera, but from what we have been told so far, nothing illegal has taken place.

You only had to look at the photo of the mother to see the agony she was going through and she had been with her son all the time in the hospital. She looked so tired and weary.

The parents are having to wait up to 72 hours in a jail and away from the little boy who is first and foremost in their minds. The experience must be unbearable. Any time they can have with their son is so valuable.
