Seems someone thinks Hayes has a future, came across this over the Holiday :- http://www.getwestlondon.co.uk/news/loc ... il-8331648 Look a bit on the expensive side, could not see any mention of cost or who will pay for it. Plus does anyone know why the logo is Underground & not Gods Wonderful Railway as we as kids used to know it by. |

''When Crossrail fully opens in 2019, up to 10 services per hour in each direction will serve Hayes and Harlington, allowing passengers to travel right through central London without having to change trains.'' 10 trains per hour to get out of this place, who says it's only bad news around here, I think the logo is to do with TFL making it appear integrated with it's other services, it'll be 2019 though before the full service starts, I think you'll have to change at Padd to use the Central section that opens in 2018. |

I think it is due to the fact that Crossrail will be a part of London Overground and hence a London Overground Orange and blue roundel might be displayed. |

Way I see the Mayor of London regardless who gets the job, they want to take over all the running of the things I feel are nothing to do with the Mayor, one just need to look at Police & Fire, both budgets controlled by The Mayor of London, wait till you see the cuts planned for 2015, sale of West Drayton bad enough for our area, as for selling of New Scotland Yard to whom?? what was it £82 million more than the asking price some foreign investor paid, we seen what happen when foreign investor from same part of the world brought from the MOD the Barracks in Chelsea. As for Transport, when I was a kid, you had railways in London we had London Transport who looked after the underground, with one bus company looking after one bus company, now we have so many different bus companies all given licences by transport for London, who gets it money & control from Mayor of London, we now have police officers funded by Mayor of London via Transport of London those offices only work on the buses, have only seen them in pairs on buses & then only when the children of today have lost the art of forming a queue, to me they seem to have no other use. As for a Mayor who still wants to buy Water Cannon for streets of London, this are just a odd few items for me its a bad. Enjoy the New Year. |

Agree about the buses. The old London Transport with it's quality control and Chiswick works made it the best in the world. These smaller companies and cutting so many corners to get the TfL tenders. The main companies like Arriva London, Metroline, London United, Go-Ahead and Abellio do have some quality control but the other smaller companies have some dubious, often illegal tactics to reduce costs. This company that has been on strike a few days ago I've never heard of. When I passed by bus test I as tested by a Police examiner and the standard was high. These days it's a 'company' approved examiner who fails and passes with regard to how short his company is of drivers. |

Police examiner, they have long gone, the Skid Pan at Hendon, no more, all advance driver courses, no longer in house. |

That skid pan was Chiswick works. I did that in a RT in the mid 70's. I was there when Simon Dee was trying, and failed, to be bus driver. Happy days. |
