Maybe I was a bit heavy with UKIP; they do say they will repeal Climate Change Act, and they will end the insane subsidies for wind and solar power generation. But according to their web site they claim to be supportive of solar generation and fracking for gas/oil; it is probable that neither solar nor fracking would even be considered in the UK if it wasn't part of the green agenda to reduce CO2.

I consider solar generation to be a complete waste of time and money in the UK. The latitude of the UK and the amount of sunlight it can rely upon in our unpredictable climate is unrealistic for a 24/7 economy where reliable, constant, and affordable power supplies are required. Solar power generation in the UK would never have been seriously considered it it hadn't been for the green insanity of saving the planet from CO2.
I also strongly disagree that the UK should allow fracking for gas/oil. The UK is too small a land mass, too heavily populated, and too dependent on unpolluted ground water to risk the kind of environmental damage that has occurred in Australia and the USA. Significant areas of the UK already have serious problems with air pollution – and fracking will add greatly to that problem.
UKIP's claim that it will only allow fracking where proper safeguards are in place is really quite ridiculous and dangerous. The energy companies will not divulge what chemicals their fracking fluids they intend to pump into the ground under our feet consist of. The energy companies all use their own secret formula, which they all claim is commercially sensitive information. In North Yorkshire they are actually drilling through underground drinking water aquifers. How insane is that?
I suspect that behind the fracking agenda lies the planned destruction of the UK's environment, leading to massive population reduction in line with the UN's Agenda 21.
