The above propaganda is deceitful and thoroughly dishonest because driving in low gear (under 20 mph) does not reduce exhaust emissions. This is unadulterated politically-correct nonsense aimed at raising general taxes and council taxes; plus identifying private car drivers as anti-social killers of people and the planet. It's all very rich coming from N.I.C.E, that body of 'experts' that denies or restricts life-saving drugs for the sick.

Here the list of stakeholders in this campaign can be accessed:

Here is the list of stakeholders:

Note: The vast majority of stakeholders in this campaign are government linked or controlled bodies. The list of stakeholders would have been very much longer had every public sector employee been required to register as stakeholders.

The BBC is normally very quick at expressing/inserting its views and opinions on most political issues, albeit often with a tangential approach, especially anything related to carbon dioxide emissions, pollution, and saving the planet. So why don't we see or hear the BBC disagreeing with obvious anti-car, anti-CO2 propaganda, even though it is widely understood and known that driving a vehicle in a low gear consumes more fuel and therefore produces more emissions than when driven in a higher gear at an appropriate speed?

If the speed limits in every village, town, and city across the land were reduced to 20 mph then vehicle pollution levels would sky-rocket, but we shouldn't let the truth get in the way of political insanity. A 20mph speed limit would also increase the demand for more imported road fuels, adversely affect Britain's balance of trade figures with the rest of the world, increase the tax revenue take from the motorist, and greatly assist with destroying what little remains of Britain's industry. Maybe the destruction of Britain is what actually lies behind all this political nonsense. It certanly apears that sane common-sense-based joined-up thinking is sadly lacking in political and media circles these days.

You know immediately when a quango called "National Institute for Clinical Excellence" starts pontificating on transport policy that something fishy is "going on".
