Anyone know if there are any plans to put this online? http://www.hillingdon.gov.uk/index.jsp?articleid=7599 Quote: Register of councillor's interests To add transparency to the democratic processes, when elected to office, Councillors sign the register of interests which details their employment, business and employer details as well as details of any payments and remuneration or assets held by them. This register is available to Members of the Public by visiting the Civic Centre. You can do this by contacting the Borough Solicitor' Office on 01895 250617. Interests of individual councillors are listed in the councillors section of this website. This page suggests persons can visit the civic to view the document. Seems to me they are not being as transparent as they should be? Many other councils are now providing this information an example is below (It is LB Newham) but I must admit some of the detail is quite startling. http://www.newham.gov.uk/yourcouncil/hownewhamisgoverned/standardscommittee.htm Take this lady for example..... http://mgov.newham.gov.uk/mgDeclarationSubmission.aspx?UID=193&HID=1807&FID=0&HPID=9978925 Councillor Ayesha Chowdhury who it appears (from this register) owns about 18 or so properties around the Borough of Newham.. She made the headlines last year.. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2023416/It-beggars-belief-Multi-millionaire-owns-massive-property-empire-chain-restaurants-lives-135-week-COUNCIL-HOUSE.html Quote: Another is serving Labour councillor Ayesha Chowdhury, who lived in council housing despite owning properties worth at least £1million. Newham were the council in the headlines this week whining on about the reductions in housing benefit... They go screaming to the press/TV about those wicked HB cuts (to 21k) and the fact that social housing tenants are being shipped out to places like Stoke and all the time their own councillors are actively profiteering from being landlords themselves. It's one of the reasons why the Labour Party give Socialism a bad name. Breathtaking hypocrisy......I have never seen so much corruption and self serving hypocrisy masquerading as a political party or group. What hideous people they all are. Blatant milking of the taxpayer via housing benefit by people in the past who have had the power to set the rate. |
