I have mentioned here before about the London Fire Brigade's obsession of selling off the family silver and entering into PFI arrangements.

So far, they have sold their fire engines, breathing apparatus, ladders, hose & kit, plus fire fighting uniforms, and then rent them back. They recently handed out a PFI contract to run their emergency call centre (which is already in trouble) and plans are in place to extend the PFI 'fire sale'

At Xmas, South Ruislip Based AssetCo who own the fire engines and kit, nearly went bust which may have resulted no fire fighting equipment for London unless the receivers & LFB could make an arrangement. AssetCo were baled out, but still are not back to where they were in terms of servicing.

This article shows that many appliances in the aerial fleet (the tall turntable ladder and hydraulic platforms) are standing idle as - like some third world dictatorship - AssetCo can't afford the spares. AssetCo may still collapse as they have over extended their reach into the middle east

PFI---- Blame the Tories for introducing the concept and Labour for tearing the arse out of it....

Typical of today's culture and entitlement attitude.... 'Have Now ...Pay Later' Just another example of why we are in the financial mess that we are.....
