Doesn't surprise me in the slightest.

It's no wonder we can't reduce or clear our debt when this sort of thing is happening under the Gov noses. Why oh why don't they seriously cut back on this sort of thing and look at foreign aid a lot closer ?

This AAA downgrade should surely be a good excuse to perform loads of these cutbacks ?

I think you may be confusing our politicians with people who want what's best for us.

With reference to this quote from the above link provided by Jon...
Quote:
By CHRIS SKIDMORE, Conservative MP
WHEN this scheme was set up it was meant to cover for emergency treatment.
No one envisaged foreign nationals going back to their home countries to give birth — and for the bill to be then picked up by the NHS.
This particular EU power should be renegotiated when the Prime Minister sets out a repatriation of powers.

...this whole 'renegotiation' nonsense that Cameron and his cronies keep on about is another load deceitful baloney. As I understand it, the various EU treaties that our various PMs have signed us up to are all written as the law of the Medes and Persians – that is in perpetuity -they can't be rewritten or renegotiated – they can only be ADDED to. EU law and treaties are effectively a one-way ratchet for ever-closer political union and tighter centralised control. But don't expect the LibLabCon to tell you that.

Breaking News.....credibility of UK Govt bonds, Bank of England and Sterling all downgraded from LOL to LMAO......

On a more serious level expect inflation to rise faster as imported goods (including food, fuel and other energy) becomes more expensive as sterling weakens on the FX.

Credit worthiness downgrade means you are now more of a risk so borrowing costs will inevitably rise....

Hi,

I just signed a petition to stop the government forcing doctors to privatise the NHS. Please can you sign it too?

A new fight for the future of our NHS has just begun. Jeremy Hunt is trying to use new powers, hidden within last year's controversial NHS laws, to force local GPs to privatise more health services.

We know how important the NHS is to all of British society. And we know that when private health companies move in, too often it doesn't end well for patients. One of the reasons so many people opposed the NHS law last year was because we were worried it would pave the way to this kind of enforced privatisation. Now we need to do all we can to stop that happening.

We've got a chance, because Jeremy Hunt is breaking specific promises given when the NHS laws were voted through last year. If we can generate enough public outcry - and put enough pressure on the politicians who clung to these promises last time round - we have a decent hope of stopping them.

Sign the petition here:

Thanks,
Jim

I've got a lot of time for Nigel.

he has stated that one of the first things he would tackle is the daily multi-millions we send out to Brussels and foreign aid. Quite a few trillion each year we are just giving away.
